We are liking Ickelheim.....**

HALLO! (this is how you say Hello in German- easy enough!)

The Story of Weather in NEVER NEVER LAND: Today has been damp, drizzly, but exceptionally COLD! Like my face turned numb when we were outside looking at apartments.

This morning I thought for sure I would be incredibly hungover, but I wasn't at all, and I haven't experienced the afternoon droopiness this afternoon either, so I suspect I may be completely over the sickness and jet lag.

We got up early to check out the apartment in a town called Ickelhiem. During our complimentary breakfast a large group of Germans came down and had breakfast next to us.  They had a lively conversation and seemed very curious about us.

The apartment in Ickelhiem has been my very favorite so far.  It was in a quaint, but cosmetically pleasing town, with a bakery, meat shop and small store, all surrounded by farmland.

The house was cute on the outside, there was a pleasant entrance with stained glass window, and a classy wood staircase.  Once we walked in there was horrible paint, but they said they would repaint, and nice tile entry.  It had two very large rooms, a large kitchen (by European standards), a smaller but still decent sized back room, and a small nursery/office size room next to it.  It had one full bath with his/her sinks.  There was also a one car garage, and cellar room.

The owners were two sisters, which I found interesting and comforting since I miss my sisters so much, and their parents lived on the bottom floor.  I met the mother who was a cute old grandma type.  They said I could also pick out flooring, and the paint colors.  They said I could also use the yard for Karmella and have a spot in their very large garden.  The Peterson family would also live in this same town just down the street.

They also have another apartment available for viewing on Monday afternoon, that is in the building adjacent and is bigger then the one we saw today.  I left very excited and happy about the place we saw this morning because all of our belongings would fit in this house, I like the idea of renting from the sisters, having a Grandma downstairs, and the Peterson's just down the street.

We have learned that the boys will probably ship out to WAR sometime in the near future and as a result will be spending lots of time the next few months training in the field.  This means that LEGS will be away a lot and having healthy resources and a 'family-like' support system will be highly beneficial to me.

We looked at another Apartment in downtown Bad Windsheim, but people were living in it so we didn't take pictures and it wasn't suitable for us.

Heidi has helped us find how to look at Apartments online, so we are learning better and better to navigate ourselves around the Internet and locating good real estate in GERMANY.  LEGS and I are just exhilarated at being able to start fresh and actually live a authentic German/European life!

We went to a Mexican place tonight for dinner with the Peterson's.  It was very interesting.  Mexican food is completely different over here, like for instance there was Rosemary on the chicken for a chicken taco salad.  But it was very yummy, I think my favorite thing was the Veggie Taco- it was so good I am definitely ordering it every time we go there. Please forgive the lack of pictures.....they have four kids and its very easy to get pleasantly distracted..... :)

Random Thoughts and Stories:

I pulled out my ID last night when I ordered a drink like a total rookie.  The legal drinking age over here is 16, and 14 with you parents- I AM SO AWESOME.....

They have two kinds of ketchup in Germany, regular and Curry Ketchup and this is what they look like.

Here is my Sponsor 'Squirrely' and I.

And here is the Kangaroo burger with beet root mash.

I have been very shocked and surprised how isolated the Americans are over here as far as media is concerned.  Certain songs, movies and television programs were completely foreign to them.  I suspect that they same thing will happen to us, which will be hard for us since we tend to watch a lot of movies, and we tend to use movie lines in everyday conversations between ourselves and with my family in particular.

Over & Out...

Just another day in the life of an unlikely military wife........**
