Steaks and Ceaser**

Slept like hell last night. We got home from our Veteran's day celebration and I stayed up super late working on my blog.  It was a really difficult task writing yesterday's blog because I could not copy and paste the facebook posts so I had to copy all of them manually, it took three hours to do and was emotionally exhausting because the gravity that people from all over were essentially thanking my husband. Here are some photos of our celebration;

I made LEGS and MOOT a carrot cake for Veteran's day and we had steaks and ceaser for dinner. The cut the cake with a AK 47 bayonet.

Moot and Erica allowed me to feed Kembree.  I should have gotten a picture.  She is such a beautiful baby girl.  I fed her, it was a very touching and incredible experience so much that I found myself enamored and overwhelmed with the emotions.  She was so hungry she sucked that bottle down in record time.  Then they told me I need to burp her.  It was a little awkward getting her from reclined to upright. I had never burped a baby before and couldn't bring myself to pat her back hard enough to be productive.   She barfed all over me- usually I would be totally disgusted but I wore the barf with pride- it was great.  I am so thankful to Moot and Erica to allow me to practice on their baby- its an honor they trust me that much- and the experience is priceless.

LEGS read how to make the perfect steak out the BBQ bible.  The recipe says Ribeye's are actually better then other steaks because the marblizing of fat and meat brings out the flavor. This is how we make them briefly; Salt (with sea salt) and Pepper both sides of the steak liberally, and let them get to room temperature.  Put them on the grill and cook them to your liking. (I personally like mine bloody)  After your done taking them off the grill DON'T CUT INTO THEM- it releases the juices and the steak will not taste as good, put a liberal amount of butter on them and let them rest for about 3-5 minutes.  BEST STEAKS EVER!!!

I make homemade croutons which are so yummy I make extra and snack on them like chips all week.  Take Sour Dough bread and break it into crouton size pieces.  Place on a cookie sheet, coat with olive oil, Salt and Pepper.  Broil in the oven until golden brown.  Flip each crouton oil the dry ones, salt and pepper broil in the oven til golden brown. (so both sides are golden brown) Let cool.  Rub a garlic clove on both sides of the crouton.(don't be stingy on this step because its what really gives it flavor)

Homemade Ceaser dressing. Mince 4-5 garlic cloves.  Salt and Pepper garlic and make into a paste.  Mix in 2 tablespoons of Worchestershire sauce, 4 table spoons Red Wine Vinegar, 1/3 cup olive oil, 1 raw egg.  Blend and beat into a think dressing.  Its DELISH! (you can also add anchovies, and I am more open to the idea now then I was when we started making it- but I haven't tried it yet)

About two hours after I went to bed LEGS woke up a soup sandwich and proceeded to bang around the house.  By the time he left and returned for something he forgot three times I was wide awake. And tired. So I do what every girl would do I ate too many double stuffed OREO cookies.  It didn't really happen if nobody saw me right?

To work off the OREO's that I consumed in the morning I met Flora on base to run trails in the woods.  About 5 minutes into the run I sprained my ankle like an idiot and had to limp out of the woods in pain and humiliation.

I did manage to go to Girlz Lunch which was amusing.  I love how all the Boyz had to go to a mandatory Safety Day Brief, how the Girlz get together for lunch and start comparing stories.  Two Boyz had said they would be home around noon, the other two had said 3 or 4.  So who was telling the truth?  Everybody was texting everybody, checking stories, confirming.  Boyz are silly if they think they can trick us......Then one husband returned home and the poor man was hen-pecked to death about the details of today's schedule.......I gotta give the man props- he didn't crack under the pressure......

LEGS and I took a siesta which pretty much confirms that we are getting old.  We had a few drinks last night got a little buzz on, then neither one of us slept, neither one of us felt good today, and we both required a nap in the afternoon.  We did go out for Margaritas- Dr. LEGS' orders for sprained ankles.....but it was a early mellow night.  Now we are at home chilling on the couch starring at our matching Mac Book screens in computer coma's. Well aren't we an exciting couple? 8 o'clock on a Friday night and we are ready to go to bed.  I do like to lie to myself and say that when you are as B.A. as LEGS and I are all week long- its time for rest on the weekends. Time to finish Kembree's blankey.

Just another day in the life of unlikely military wife........**

  2. too funny, you are getting old. I loved the story of the baby, made me think of you. Every time I burped you, you barfed all over me. The best was when Dad came home from lunch and was holding you and the dog echo was there (a smaller version of Milo) well she was there wagging her tail, your dad had you one on knee eating lunch watching another world, yes, he was into the soaps then! Bouncing you on one knee. You barfed (go figure) the barf hit the dogs tail needless to say spudded all over him, and I was on the FLMAO!
